2016 Rules Change Request open season

Time once again to discuss changes for the CMC rules. As is our usual, we'll target the end of November for having the 2017 rules published. Our goal is to only make changes that clarify intent unless the change reduces cost, improves safety, or enables closer competition (closer does not mean lower lap times by the way!).

Your role as a CMC competitor is twofold: first, submit Rules Change Requests (RCR) for things you believe make sense and second, to discuss your RCRs and those others submit with your fellow racers and, most importantly, with your Regional Director.

Feel free to create a thread for your RCR, but please keep these threads limited to one specific topic to make it easier for everyone to follow along. Keep these discussions civil and remember that its perfectly ok for others to have a different and even conflicting opinion to your own.

To submit an RCR for the CMC Directors for consideration, please submit it to your regional director via email with a cc to me using the format below. Your regional director is your representative at the discussions, and the two of you discussing your suggestion first will help that greatly.

We will accept complete RCRs until Friday October 7. I will post RCRs as they come in so everyone can see what they are.

For those that are new or unfamiliar, the Directors discuss and vote on the RCRs. Usually RCRs are either overwhelmingly supported or overwhelmingly not supported, but if it is a tie I'm the tie breaker and retain the right to veto. When we're done, we submit the whole thing to NASA HQ for their review, suggestions, and final approval.

I encourage you to do the appropriate due diligence. Provide real evidence and details. Read old RCRs, read the director's cut threads explaining what RCRs were rejected and why. If it's the same RCR and nothing has changed, its logical to expect the decision to remain unchanged.

RULE CHANGE REQUESTS (RCR) MUST BE SUBMITTED IN THE FOLLOWING FORMAT TO BE CONSIDERED (no a post online isn't enough):

---1) Name / Region / Car # / Contact Info (email or phone, etc)

---2) Rule reference # (ex.- Rule 3.2)

---3) Recommended Revised Wording (saying make rule 5.4 clearer isnt enough! How would you word it?)

---4) Reasoning for change MUST include at least 1 of the following:

---------->a) Will decrease series cost because...

---------->b) Will increase driver safety because...

---------->c) Will promote series growth because...

---------->d) Will improve competition because...

---------->e) Will provide more clarity because...

HINT – Requests which score points in all categories will have better chances of being accepted than those which score points in 1 category (or worse yet, go against the reasonings above.)

I'm available just about any time if you want to discuss something over the phone or email.

You'll have to post this in the Texas CMC forum (aicmctexas.com) to get an answer. ;)
Ain't nothing wrong with that...

Although there is healthy discussion on where everything sits parity wise - with pretty equal split as I read the tea leaves between the a) give some to chebbie, b) do nothing, c) give the rest of the mother load to the stangs.

From my understanding there were zero official submissions.

We do have some discussions going on to clear up a few sections of the rules that have had some confusion as of recently.

This is pretty silly, we have several different websites and no consistent place to get info.
Dave, I think this is the "official" place for rules, tech bulletins, etc.

There is certainly a lot of chatter normally on the aicmctexas site because a lot of us don't know when to be quiet.

Al posted the request for RCRs here and, as I recall, has always provided a directors cut of rule changes here. Al has always been responsive to the group and very open about official rulings.

On edit: I agree with you that the traffic here is much lower than other places - but official happenings are here. May not see all the sausage being made here, but come on over to the Texas site and stir it up with us.

Appreciate the info

I get that traffic here is minimal, but the post says, RCR's will be posted as they come in, for all to see.

So, none came in. A brief update from Al would have been appreciated. Not a big deal....

And the website hunting seems unnecessarily complex. There are several.

If you're board to tears, I started a thread last year, " Suggestion Box".................it got no traction (pun intended)

Sorry for the silence folks, been doing a lot of travelling for work.

There were no official submissions by drivers, but there were a couple of items that the directors wanted to talk through. These have all been wrapped up, and the rules submitted to NASA for final endorsement and posting on the national NASA site and the nasaponycars site. This should be done in the next couple of days. I am going to create a director's cut thread since we've been doing so every year to document changes and rationale.
