ekim952522000
Is it ok to move a bar in cage after it has been built? I know in a FIA approved cage your not supposed to move one, And in the SCCA it's fine. But what about NASA? Read the whole rule book on cage building didn't find anything that said you couldn't, has anyone heard diffrent?
944-Spec#94
Well clearly some bars are not easy to move such as the main hoop. Other bars are a snap. Cut out the old one and weld in a new one where it needs to be. Clearly the material and quality of welds needs to be just a good as what you had. I figure you can move a dash bar or door bars pretty easily. Of couse if you try to bend a bar while still a part of the cage I think that is dumb. So once a part of the cage a bar should not be bent or twisted in anyway, but you certainly should be able to cut a bar out and put a new bar in. Depending on the bar you may need to have it re-inspected and signed off by tech, but if done properly this should be a snap. Anybody disagree??
