Possibility of Time Trial tire contingencies for 2006?

Just curious -

Has anyone ever investigated the possibility of getting tire contingencies for Time Trials drivers?

For example - Kumho offers weekend and year end contigencies to Honda Challenge drivers. They also do this for SCCA race series and even some autox events.

It seems to me that if they are supporting autox that time trials wouldn't be that much different?

I'm here in NE Ohio kind of close to the Kumho research center so I can approach them if desired. I know NASA also works with Toyo and personally I've been very happy with the RA1's so if they offered a program I'd be fine with that too.

I totally agree.

I would love a Toyo RA1 contigency at least at the nationals or for season points winners.

What to do we need to do to get 1-5 basic contigencies going??

Greg, what about a point break for the tire sponsor?? hehe

  • National Staff

We've had local sponsors in SoCal for 2 years now with some nice prize packages for our champions. Since we are going "National" now with TT, NASA National will negotiate any nationwide contingencies or sponsorships. Your local region is still free to get local sponsors to put up prizes or contingency awards (as long as they don't conflict with a national or title sponsor). If any of you have a rich uncle with a business that needs $75k of advertising as the title sponsor of NASA TT, I'm sure we could work something out .

Here's my response from hoosier

Allen,

Thanks for writing. I would be happy to send you some Hoosier decals

for your race car. Currently, we do offer a contingency program through

SCCA club and solo national events, but nothing more. Also, our 2006

budget has been allocated for the year and we will be unable to pickup

any more competitors.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be a part of your race team.

Best of luck in 2006.
