Any 92-95 325i or 325is will be the best starting point. A manual car is easiest, but manual swapping an automatic is not that difficult. A 318 can be made to work with Spec3, but it's a bit more work and requires a lot of parts swapping. Buying an M3 would largely be a waste, but if you get a good deal on a shell, it may be doable with careful reading of the rules. Look for any shell with little or no rust if possible. Where should I look for donor cars? Facebook MarketPlace is the current best option in 2021. There are so many good cars that I can't possibly list any more than just the ones in the Mid Atlantic region. If you are in another area, check Facebook market place for manual BMW 3 series between 1992 and 1995 within 250 miles of you and you're bound to find something immediately. Craigslist has largely dried up since they started charging to post cars, so you'll see I'm able to post all cars for sale on Craiglist nationwide each week. You can also check eBay and places like autotrader, but those will be much more expensive and clean cars. TaylorGoesFast Posted April 11, 2023 Author Share Posted April 11, 2023 I stopped posting these because after finding 10+ good examples a week and helping nearly 35 people find clean shells (yes, that's 35 new builds since I started making these posts), it has become extremely evident that 325i donors are abundant and cheap.
