RULE PROPOSAL CHANGE " Race Points Dropping "

Propose changing the rule for dropping 2 races throughout the race year

Currently you can drop the points from any 2 races with the lowest score for the season. Whether you attended the weekend or not.

Basically, saying you can pick a race weekend that you do not wish to attend thus maintaining your points total. While I understand the thought behind this rule, being a mechanical or race incident preventing a race will not jeopardize your standings. But that's racing.

Propose changing the rule to ;

'You can drop 2 of your lowest race points ONLY from races you have attended. If you did not receive points due to non-attendance, these   non-attended races cannot be dropped from the Champion points standings.'

This rule change would promote fairness amongst all races/drivers attending the complete race series and not picking or choosing what to attend.

Barry, this is not professional racing.  We do not have spare cars or teams of mechanics.  The 2 race drop is a huge relief for those with big mechanical issues mid season.  Also we can not excuse ourselves from family obligations like weddings etc because of a race weekend, this is not our full time job like NASCAR or IMSA.  
 

By the way this is a timing and scoring policy, not a GTS rule.
