Christian944 Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 (edited) I am trying to get into TT this year and I purchased some used Pirellis slicks for TT and I need clarification on the tire rule to see if I can stick with these tires or if I need to purchase some Hoosiers. It states the following: "Tires greater than 315 (DOT) and 11.8”/300mm/30cm (non-DOT) will be assessed via the “Adjusted Weight/Power Ratio” in ST2 and ST3 (unless the vehicle competition weight is more than 3750 lbs.)" My competition weight is over 3750 (Camaro SS 1LE), does this mean I can run non-DOT tires without penalty. Or will I have to purchase some 315/30/18 Hoosier R7's to compete? I'm thinking it means that I will not be penalized the extra -.3 for NON-DOT tires larger than 300mm, but I will still be penalized the -.7 for NON-DOT tires. National Staff Greg G. Posted January 19, 2023 National Staff Posted January 19, 2023 Tire Type: Non-DOT approved tires (ST1, ST2 Only) = -0.5 Non-DOT approved tires (ST3 Only) = -0.7 Yes, if you are planning on running in TT3, then the non-DOT tires would have a -0.7 Mod Factor Quote
