jspd234 Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 any new ideas on how to get cars and equipment to ohio? Quote
zuperdave Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I'm not planning on giving the 7s Only club $1500, so I guess that means I'm planning on trailering myself. Got a trailer? Let's partner up to caravan. I'm planning on leaving the East Bay no later than Friday morning Sept 8. I can probably leave as early as Weds Sept 6. If you are not planning on competing, or know someone who is going that direction and needs a ride, I could use a co-pilot or co-driver if s/he can handle a pickup pulling a trailer. We can also talk about making arrangements for me to tote some of your spares... Quote
Murphy Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 I thought 7's Only pricing was pretty darn reasonable? I plan on handing them my deposit tomorrow. Quote
zuperdave Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I'll admit I didn't do any price shopping, it just sounded like a lot... I also admit didn't figure-in how much my time is worth for towing myself. Could be their offer is a steal, I'm just kinda looking forward to a "road trip." I figure I can get there and back without killing myself... Quote
jspd234 Posted April 18, 2006 Author Posted April 18, 2006 i did some internet price shopping with some national auto shipping companies and found that 7's only is a GREAT(read way less expensive) deal! i simply do not have the time to drive for 3+ days each way so if i did go, i would have to ship my car and equipment. i priced out a 4' long x 4' deep x 7' tall container(build it myself) that weighs 1000 lbs.(all my spares, tools and equip.) and it would cost approximately $1500 round trip. sooo........ almost $5k to get my car and stuff there, not including air fare for three people, hotel, car rental, food, etc. do the math! i need a nationals sponsor!!!! GAC Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Sevens Only IS a good deal. HOWEVER, be warned and ask THESE QUESTIONS: 1. Is the trailer open or closed? 2. Who is the carrier and are they bonded and insured? 3. How does the insurance work? Most of our cars are worth far more than book value. 4. Do they reserve the right to raise prices if there's a fuel price surcharge tacked on by their carrier? 5. Is the car guaranteed to arrive ON a certain day or could it arrive before and where would the car be left if it gets there early? There are other important questions, but those are some big ones. Question number three is being researched by Sevens. I'll let you guys know the outcome next week. Quote
