Tim Comeau Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 215K miles is alot! It's probably pretty tired. All the systems will need to be refreshed.....beware. Quote
genikz Posted April 10, 2006 Author Posted April 10, 2006 All the systems will need to be refreshed. What 20 year old car doesn't? You've got a point though. Quote
Spec-944#70 Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I bought mine as an 84 with 115k. Lasted almost a year then had to go through the motor. No motor will survive long without a freshening up!! Buy a cheap car, pull the motor, rebuild, clutch, strip it, do the susp and make it RACE ready and you'll be better off. Trust me or ask others. Quote

My 924S has 158K on it, but it still pulls hard and doesn't smoke one bit. Before it sees much track time, especially racing in the series, the engine is getting pulled and given the once over. I've never blown a motor and I don't plan on it in the future! I was just posting the link for anybody who might be interested. I'm still paying mine off Quote
Tim Comeau Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 It's great to get the questions and answers out there for the newer guys to read. Good stuff. Quote

944 Swede Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Jim,I guess everything is up for interpretation. Funny Quote
Tim Comeau Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I guess Jim defines "blowing" an engine as a rod out through the side of the block, parts flying everywhere, NASCAR-style plume of smoke billowing out from behind, etc. Anything else is just a mechanical snag. But then again, Bill Clinton defines oral sex as "just flirting." Quote

I guess I've spent too many years on the VW 1.8T forums. "Blown" 1.8T = carnage Quote
