lball Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I've been fighting with a problem of oil blowing out my breathers on my valve covers during the race. It makes a mess on the car and burns up on headers creating smoke. Does anyone have any suggestions for eliminating this problem? I've noticed that many people with small block Chevy's have plumbed in a remote mount catch can. Is this the only way to address the problem or are there other ways? Any info would be great!! Quote
Rustic Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I fought this problem also. After chatting with the guys from 309 Racing (all 3 of them run f-bodies) I decided it was the way to go. I used 2 passanger side valve covers and cut the top off of the fill tubes. Then I taped the inside of the fill tube to 3/4 npt and screwed in simple barb fittings. It's been working great. Before this mod I was blowing oil out my breather, around the valve cover gaskets and even around the centerbolts on the covers. Quote
lball Posted July 17, 2006 Author Posted July 17, 2006 Did you have to put some type of gaskets under the bolt heads on the valve covers? Quote
