Bill Addy Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I was wondering if I would have anyone to race with. Quote
DavidH Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Bill, Glad you are going. I will be there. Mark Foley and Jim Marks will be there as well. I am not sure about anyone else. It is a great track and we will have a blast Quote
mfoley Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Yep, I'll be there. I'll be debuting my new STAHL header too so you'd better look out . Quote
Spec-944#70 Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I won't!! But I'll see you all at BW in Sept!! Quote
DavidH Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I'll be debuting my new STAHL header too so you'd better look out Now we can really see if your 148hp car can beat a 128hp car Is it the driver or the car Quote
944spec92 Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 That's it. I really have to put my foot down now. The only rule change that should even remotely be considered for 944spec is that from now on (notice that this is not retroactive) no color powder coated wheels will be allowed. Especially not blue ones. They seem to make the cars go faster. Not the fact that someone is getting more seat time. Not the fact that they are a student of racing and applying theory learned into practice on the track and dropping lap times. No, it has to do with money spent. David - there is a direct correlation between money in wallet spent and thus a faster car. The more money spent, the lighter the wallet, thus the lighter the driver, thus the lighter the car, and finally the faster thus result. So, don't ever think you can ever out drive someone with powder coated wheels. Especially not blue ones. Good luck up there! Miss ya. Quote
Packfill Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Well we are going to get our wish. At Laguna Seca we are going to get to see how big of a deal Horsepower makes.... I went to the Dyno today.... My car is making GREAT HP down low, where we dont run them. At 5K or so I am making in the mid 130s...completely happ with that. At 5.5K I am making 124, ouch, but livable. At 6K, I am making 112....this sucks!!! So if you see a charcoal black speedbump in the road, consider it a moving chicane,....and go by.... I think a Stahl header and some Bilsteins might get me from 112 to 145, though...... It may be electrical, I have a fried wirng harness and Sir Frank, help me put in a new one this afternoon... it took him and hour and a half... freakin amazing... but I doubt this will change Dyno numbers... I think I am going to super glue some really wide mirrors (4 feet each) to the side of my car..... Quote
Capt Squid Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I will be at Laguna. I don't how much hp my car has as long as I have someone to race with. Quote
PeanutinCA Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I would suspect Schilling and Momeyer may be in the list of attendees also? I will unfortunately not be in that list. Unless someone wants to sponsor the weekend to the tune of about $1,500? P.D. p.s. Looks like I am able to log on again? Quote
pixrken Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I love to run this with you guys but don't hold a POC license. Looking at the POC GCR appendix G it doesn't seem like I can get this done by next weekend (Aug. 25-27). I'll drop by to say Hi and watch you guys race. Quote
mfoley Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Where are you Pete? I'm pretty sure Pete will be attending too. Oh and I want Ray to know that I used special light weight material to powder coat my wheels that actually make the wheels lighter ... unsprung weight you know. The material only comes in blue. Quote
DavidH Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Mark, I have a blue wallet that would match your wheels very nicely. Comes with a set of matching blue rubber checks as well:D Quote
Bill Addy Posted August 20, 2006 Author Posted August 20, 2006 I spoke with Pete today and he'll be there . Looks like a fun group, and hey, its for charity . I've done nothing to my car since June, so once again, it will be applying experience and enthusiasm with what ever horespower came with the car, and having a heck of a lot of fun . Quote
pixrken Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Hi Guys, It was great meeting Mark Foley, Bill Addy, Jim Marks, Jim Richmond, DavidH. Pete, sorry I didn't get a chance to say Hi and others if you weren't by your car. Mark, congrats on the Saturday win! The special light weight material you use to powder coat your wheels must have worked because you really harrassed that 911. Too bad it only comes in blue. Come on, where's the race report? I'll help you guys get started with some pictures. Quote
n wright Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Damn, I wish I had been there!! Great pictures. Congrats to Mark on the two race wins and the fast lap times. Must have been a great time to be on that track with such good conditions. What happened to Pete on Sunday? Didn't see him in the race results. Quote
Norman#99 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Let's make a rule that pictures like these have to be taken at every race, these are some of the best I've seen!!! Way to go Mark, Congrats!!! Were do you find the race results? Norman #99 Quote
Norman#99 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Never mind I found it on mylaps.com, that was posted fast. If you haven't read bodines note from Amsterdam on the POC forum threads "results from laguna" it's histaricle, If you have ever been there, you can maybe appreciate it!!!!!!!!!! I was there several years ago with plans of seeing Germany, Netherlands........All I saw was a neat little coffee shop around the corner from my hotel room and a really good cafe' that had the best quarter size pancakes and of course I had to do a little little window shopping, (didn't buy nothin) Norman #99 Quote
944-Spec#94 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 and of course I had to do a little little window shopping, (didn't buy nothin) Norman #99 I heard all you can do is rent anyway. Quote
mfoley Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 (edited) Great pics Ken. Thanks a lot for posting them. Thanks everyone for the congrats. It was another incredible Laguna experience and one I'll certainly never forget. My car ran flawlessly and was hooked up. I had one minor mishap when my muffler fell off but that was fixed quickly. Ken - What times do you guys run at Laguna? I ran consistent 1:48.0x's and had my fastest lap of the weekend in Sunday's race. It was a 1:47.8 (I think). I had the pole for the entire green group both days. This was a first for me. On Sat I started in third gear and was passed by two 911's immediately. On Sun I started in second gear and only one 911 got passed me on the start. It was fun to think about strategy. Edited August 30, 2006 by Guest Quote
Packfill Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Quite a showing, Mark has really come into his own and will be a force to reckon with from now on... get used to seeing his tail lights. David Hirsch and Pete Yousko also ran times under last years track record. Jim Richmond showed his typical great attitude and amazing racecraft... taking his car to a 3rd place finish on Sunday. All these guys are flyin... If we start getting everyone out to the races, this class is REALLY heating up... I can think of 8 or so guys, now that can win a race on any day... very impressive.... next year is going to be tough!! Quote
pixrken Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Let's make a rule that pictures like these have to be taken at every race, these are some of the best I've seen!!! Norman #99 Norman, Thanks but I think we should also make it a rule for folks to file a race report. I know where to find the results but it doesn't tell the story. For example, Mark's battle with the red 911. I know it's a out of class battle but you can't let up when Pete and Jim are behind you. Jim's problem with his brakes on Saturday (he was working on it when I left saturday) or Bill Addy's ingenious muffler contraption coming out the back of his car to beat the noise limit. Quote

It was a 1:47.8 (I think). Laguna Seca is one of the closer tracks for me and even though it's a NorCal track there are very few open track days available because it's always booked. NorCal NASA had no race at Laguna this year. I only been on it twice and never with my 944spec car. I know of the draconian noise limit and I got black flagged in one of my street cars for noise. Bill Pennock can better give you times for a 944 at Laguna Seca. It was great watching you guys race and I'm willing to get a POC license just so I can join you guys next year. Congrats again! Quote
genikz Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 or Bill Addy's ingenious muffler contraption coming out the back of his car to beat the noise limit. That's hilarious! And genius. So if he's out in front and you can't get by him, you just give him a tap and F up his muffler(s). Then he'll get blacked flagged Quote
Packfill Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 You know this muffler was quiet as they have it angle TOWARD the sound booth.... Quote
DavidH Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Ken, Thank you for posting the pictures. It was also nice meeting you this last weekend. Hopefully we can get the N. & S. Cal folks together some day for a Laguna Seca showdown. It is an amazing track. My favorite without a doubt. You guys are lucky to have that, Infinieon and Thunderhill all close by. Quote
