NorcalTT
Hi Greg, question from a fellow competitor when you get a chance - I was looking at adding a flare similar to the attached photo on my car, but I have some questions for you. Rules for flared fender start in the btm area and state "must only cover tire from above, not front or back" I assume there is some room here. From here there is a mod factor for "non oem" flares and venting. Could you expand on "non oem"? Does that mean any bolt on flare? Does that mean if you use ANY bolt on flare you must take the mod factor? If I do take the fender mod factor, am I allowed to attach the fender flare to the bumper? I am aware in the btm section, when discussing front bumpers, it says nothing must attach to it, but at this point we are not taking btm mod factor. Are there any rules/guidelines on the mod factor "canards and/or diveplanes"? Thank you for your time.
National Staff Greg G. Posted August 3 National Staff Share Posted August 3 As shown in the photos, those would not be permitted under the BTM Aero Rules. They would have to be cut smaller on the front and back sides so they are not covering "front or back". But, if cut so they adhere to the BTM Aero rule, they would not incur an ST4/TT4 Mod Factor. They would not be permitted in ST5/TT5 as shown. 6.4.2.7 allows for aftermarket flares and wide body fenders and modifications similar to the higher ST classes for the -0.3 Mod Factor. Yes, the wide body fender generally is attached to the bumper facia. Send me a photo if you question your application.
