944-Spec#94 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Guys, 2007 is approaching and while we have lots of cars on the driver listing event attendace is has been rather modest. So... What do you drivers want to see in the NASA events that will make you come out and run? Door prizes? Consolidated 944 spec pit area? Split starts for the 944 group? Contingency prices (race finish determined)? Saturday Evening Cook out? Race Annoucers? Track photographers? 5 practices sessions? dancing girls? Lets get some suggestions for this you want to see that will make you come race with NASA in 2007. Please note your region with your suggestion! BTW... Lets focus on the events rather than any rules changes. We been through the rules discussions before. Quote
Utah944 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 For me I would like to see the 2007 schedule sooner. I am planning on a AZ trip and a Nor Cal Trip (Ken does too good a job not to go back and I want to run sears point) and possiblily a so cal trip as well. With the possibility of that much travel -it would help having the schedule now to plan the trips and to start lobbying the department of finance (my wife) for funds. In my house I am a special interest group- I am not part of the government but every once in a while I can affect policy. Quote
944-Spec#94 Posted October 20, 2006 Author Posted October 20, 2006 We in Az have an event this Decemeber 9, 10th at PIR. Quote
Chuck T. Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 The NASARM calender should come out soon. I hope to have a national 944-spec race at the Miller event ! Save that date!!! there might be more that one club on the track with us. And i mean with us as in 944's (not 944-cup). chuck Quote
schwank Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 I want to see my car completed, and me with a license, and me entering a race. Oh, and I am certainly NEVER one to complain about dancing girls Although that will be hard with no budget for a tow vehicle and trailer purchase between now and Summer 07.... so maybe that race will have to be in a rental... You guys sure you don't want to have a race up in Portland? Quote
genikz Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 From an "outsiders" perspective, I really liked the fact that most of the Spec 944 guys were in one pit location (Cal Speedway, March '06). It made it more comfortable to come up and start a conversation since I was likely to run into one of the drivers near their car. I basically started building my car because the class looked 'welcoming' (well that and cost, FR car setup, etc etc). I went into sombodies RV and they first thing they said was "What are you drinking?" That's my kind of club. Cheers, Chris Quote
Packfill Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 I went into sombodies RV and they first thing they said was "What are you drinking?" That's my kind of club. The Barbie Pleasure Palace Strikes Again!! (we really do need to come up with a better name...) Bwahhaaahhhaaahhhaaahhhaaaa Quote
PeanutinCA Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 I thought it was the Pink Palace? OK, off to a free Lakers game, that's my kinda event! Quote
n wright Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 "I thought it was the Pink Palace? OK, off to a free Lakers game, that's my kinda event! " Free Lakers game? Aren't we in baseball season now? How about more track time and lower fees. Well, I guess that goes without saying. Just kidding, never attended a NASA event. Parking together is a good idea if it can be arranged. BBQ's are always fun. Jim, how about calling it the "Rat Pack Lounge"? It's got that dark smokey, martini, guy kinda feel (on the inside anyway) to it. Quote
944spec92 Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 BTW... Lets focus on the events rather than any rules changes. We been through the rules discussions before. Yes, we have been through the rules discussions before and many of us are still waiting for specific status reports on some of the items discussed. Especially the rule to allow lexan windshield so that some of us may plan our winter projects accordingly. Does anyone know how much longer it will be before something official is posted? What if anything is holding up the process to inform the members? On the main subject matter request - since you did ask here is a brief, non-inclusive, in no particular order, list of items and topics that may assist you in your quest: 1. Free entries! 2. Some type of prize structure to win free entries. 3. Pit tootsies. 4. Podium recognition and raffles/tires/prizes given at the end of each race. 5. If enough 944spec entries - separate run group. 6. Separate 944spec grid and starts for races. 7. No Hondas. 8. No BMWs. 9. Paddock babes. 10. No Mustangs. 11. No Corvettes. 12. NASA tech available at experienced, knowledgable, participating independent marquee shops for easier race tech, annual techs, and so that there will be no need for drivers/entrants to continuosly educate class/regional directors/techs on adequate and appropriate OEM ways to mount or use safety equipment. 13. Podium chicks. 14. Free beer after all races. 15. Free dinners Friday and Saturday nights. 16. Free lunches. 17. OK, might as well throw this in - free breakfasts. 18. Sponsors foot bill on free meals. SSF did that many times in NorCal NASA/PRC events. 19. Free event t-shirts. 20. Female mechanic free wrenching. 21. Free bikini car washes 22. Did I mention more babes? Respectfully submitted with tongue in cheek, Quote
schwank Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Free beer and naked chicks. And here I was trying to get my 'chick' to come to comp school with her own 944... resurrected from the ashes of my 83 parts car. She's not too into beer! Quote
Tom #16 Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 So Cal NASA already has a few of those. They have beer or beer/pizza on Saturday pretty often. About half the time they've had trophy girls during the award ceremony. And they were very nice looking I'd like to see them continue with two practice sessions like they did last weekend at Buttonwillow (though I missed them both... wtf?). Also larger 944 fields- hopefully we'll have more cars finish their building process in '07. Oh, and I'd like to see me in first place in front of a bunch of other 944 drivers. Quote
944-Spec#94 Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 Ok, So seems like some of things you guys want to see are 1) Single 944 spec camp. - That should be workable at most events. Best way to make this happen is to let your series director know when what events you are going to,some idea of when you will get there, and space requirments (ie street car or pink pleasure palace). This way we can hold and reserve the right amount of space 2) Defined Schedule of events for the year. - These schedules are developed the local oveall region directors. We will forward the need to for schedules for planning purposes 3) Podium Recognition and Prizes/Drawings - I think each of the series directors need to work on this to ensure they happen. Even if it just our guys and not the entire NASA field I will commit to Taking a podium picture from each Arizona race. I will have this picture for posting on our website. When it comes to prizes/drawings I will work on it. BTW my personal prefernce is for drawings vs finish order prizes. This helps spread the swag around rather than just going to the same folks. 4) Seperate run groups / Split starts - Well the seperate run groups is really driven by you guys. If we can get 20-40 944 spec cars out then getting our own run group could happen. It is not going to happen with 5 cars. Split starts are also like that. 5 cars in 40 car field not going to happen. 15 in 30 car field and we have shot. 5) NASA tech availible more easily - We can work this... send details to your series director. 6) Two practice sessions - Well this will depend on the size of the local nasa region and race groups. Lots of large race groups and probably just the 1. Smaller group sizes and fewer race groups and maybe 2. The directors can take this to the region leadership and see where it goes. I talked with John Lindsey about this for Az events since we don't have track sponsored Friday test days. He gave us a second practice this past event in October and there looks to be 2 practices in November. We do have have the luxury of smallish race field so it it can be workable schedule wise. Not sure if that is possiblity in some of the larger so-cal events. 7) Did I miss anything? Add more here! Quote
944-spec#09 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 HI joe Yes you missed the trphy babes. Although I have relinquished the AZ series directorship to you (and I think you are doing a much better job than I did!), I have retained my position as AZ NASA Trophy Girl Pimp. I have been working with both Hooters and a local AZ place called the Tilted Kilt to get some cuties out to award our trophies and pose for award pics. Unfortunately I have been having a hard time convincing the girls that THEY are the trophies. Alas, I will continue to work on this for our upcoming events. Quote
Tim Comeau Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Id just like to see more cars finished up and more drivers racing with us....that's all. Quote
