99cobra2881 Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 I just bought a '00 Mustang GT with IRS and an almost built DOHC. Car is well built and was previously raced in '05 with SCCA classed in ITE. I'm looking for a region to run with but it looks like Im stuck in the middle of everywhere. Rocky Mountain is too far west 5+ hours to get to every race except for Hastings. Texas Region, the closest is Hallett at 3.5 hours. Everything else is further south. Midwest div seems to be what I would call more north and east than midwest with a few people asking to run Heartland Park 2.5 hours and MAM 5 hours away as the closest two tracks. Any advice? Thanks Anthony Dail Quote
Raybob9289 Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Anthony, You can race Hastings with us Rocky Mountain guys. Tentative April 14th & 15th then race with us and the Texas Dudes at Hallet on Memorial Day weekend. If these aren't real bad Tows for you??? Where in Kansas are you? We have a RMR dude in Goodland. 99cobra2881 Posted November 12, 2006 Author Posted November 12, 2006 Yeah, I was at Hastings this last month, I was there for the HPDE with my '99 cobra. Great track and it's only two hours away. Im looking forward to being back there soon. I'm located in Lincoln, Ks about 45 miles west of Salina, Ks. Good thing is Im close to I-70 so I can basically get on 70, go east or west and make some good time. I need to get my driving schools completed. I know that Hallett is accredited with SCCA, but does an SCCA liscence cross over to NASA? Or will I have to do a NASA school also? When/where are some NASA schools scheduled? I'm hoping to get atleast two races with RM region of those I'd like to get to run MPH and Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. Anthony Quote
marshallmosty Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Anthony, The TX region is running two events up "north" for 2007. However, Hallett is NOT one of them for next year. The two for our events from Lincoln, KS are Motorsports Ranch-Houston (Angleton, TX) Feb. 3-4 (12 hours) Motorsports Ranch-Cresson (Cresson, TX) March 3-4. (8 hours) Eagle's Canyon Raceway (New Track)(Decatur, TX) April 28-29 (6.5 hours) Motorsports Ranch-Houston (Angleton, TX) June 3-4 (12 hours) Texas World Speedway (College Station, TX) August 4-5 (10.5 hours) Motorsports Ranch-Houston (Angleton, TX) Oct 27-28 (12 hours) I know that the majority of our schedule is a MAJOR haul, but MSR-Cresson is a great tight track and Eagle's Canyon Raceway is still under construction but it supposed to be great, based on the track map. Anthony Dude, The SCCA License will automaticly get you a NASA license at least mine did. We will be doing a School weekend at Pueblo on March 17th and 18th if you wanna make that tow. Or just do the first SCCA School at Topeka. Looks like I don't have my Hallet info right . I was under the impression we were gonna do a joint AI/CMC RMR/Texas hoe down at Hallet??? March 17-18 Pueblo *Driver school* April 14-15 Hastings June 2-3 Miller July 28-29 Pueblo Sept 15-16 Nationals Sept 29-30 La Junta Oct 20-21 Sandia Nov 10-11 Pueblo Quote
99cobra2881 Posted November 12, 2006 Author Posted November 12, 2006 Good deal!! That makes sense, and it saves me money on doing schools for both. Too bad on the Texas region not running Hallett, I cut my teeth on that track and it's been my favorite ever since. I might be able to make it to Pueblo, Topeka would be alot easier. Actually, I'll probably end up going to HPT for the school. Then be back at Hastings in April. It would be awesome to run MMP in June! Also, how do I go about applying for my number? I know the SCCA midiv has numbers that have to be renewed yearly. Is it even neccessary? Id like to keep #26 for now. thanks for all the help! Anthony AI #26 Mustang Quote
tacovini Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Hey Anthony, For just a "few miles longer", you could always join us at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson or Texas World Speedway in College Station! Come on down!!! Todd Covini Quote

As we get closer to March let me know if you wanna make that long of a Tow? Actually, I'll probably end up going to HPT for the school. Then be back at Hastings in April. It would be awesome to run MMP in June! I would definatly do the HPT SCCA School then apply for your NASA license with the SCCA licence. If we run the COMMA deal in Hallet then some of us RMR dudes won't go to Miller. Its a way cool track but no other AI/CMC cars to race with. Besides that the tow over the Mountains sucks. Also, how do I go about applying for my number? I know the SCCA midiv has numbers that have to be renewed yearly. Is it even neccessary? Id like to keep #26 for now. If you are gonna for sure make a couple of RMR races in 07 I will secure #26 for you no problem... thanks for all the help! Anthony AI #26 Mustang Quote
99cobra2881 Posted November 13, 2006 Author Posted November 13, 2006 I might have to join you "texas boys" sometime. I dunno though I heard you guys are fast. I'll look up Pueblo and see how far it is. I know I'd have some great help at the track as the cars previous owner and driver would love to come down from Ft. Carson and kick the car around for a few laps. I could do the COMMA event much easier, I think I'll just plan on doing that instead. I'll run Miller sometime, it doesn't have to be this year. I'm going to try my hardest to be there for several races. Only thing that stands between doing just that, is an engine rebuild this winter. Anthony AI #26 Quote
