IGZOSTD Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Greg I have a question about OEM curb weights . What happens when the OEM weight is more that the scaled weight . Steve Quote
JCraven Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Guys, let Greg finish the rules! My answer is that it depends. Depends on if you are taking points for each individual weight reduction item such as removing carpet, removing rear seats etc. and taking the individual points or if you are using alternate weight method. If points for individual items, then the actual driving weight is as you drive the car, the lower the better. If alternate weight method, there is a scale. <100lbs is free and you have to take points if your car is lighter than 100lbs under the oem weight. Joe Craven not sure what class - waiting for the updated rules Quote
IGZOSTD Posted November 15, 2006 Author Posted November 15, 2006 The problem is that my car has an OEM weight of 3560 lb. and I had it on the scales at the last event 3400 lbs.. The only mods as far as weight is concerned is , no cat's , no spair , and different air box , non OEM tires . I don't think this adds up to 160 lb. Quote
JCraven Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Greg used the 3560lb to class the car, so it sounds like you are using the remove item method to reduce weight. IF yes, then you are good to go. Be happy that your car is a bit lighter than the oem weight used to classify your car. Is your tanks full? Gas, oil, windshield washer. Cats are quite heavy, spare could be too. Quote
National Staff Greg G. Posted November 16, 2006 National Staff Posted November 16, 2006 Actually, the weight I have is 3450 lbs. So, I don't know where the 3560 is coming from. Also, I don't know why the car isn't base classified in TTC with the Mach 1. (or at least TTD**)? Quote
IGZOSTD Posted November 16, 2006 Author Posted November 16, 2006 Ok so the weight I have is from magazine test . That sounds better as I would like to put bar in the car and use the alternet method , taking out the back seat and lighter wheels and drivers seat . Dosen't that work out to 11.5:1 in the power to weight ,which is TTC. Steve Quote
