Piersin Posted November 23, 2006 Author Posted November 23, 2006 What is a manual valvebody auto? Does it have a Torque Converter? Quote
MustGoFaster Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Typical with a manual valve body auto, the transmission will do what you tell it to. Put it in 1st gear, and it will stay in 1st, until you tell it to do something else, like go to 2nd gear. They have Torque Converter's and everything else an auto tranny does, except they won't shift themselves. Quote
Piersin Posted November 27, 2006 Author Posted November 27, 2006 Any chance they'll make the automatics a -4 mod since it slows you down and eats up horsepower? That's fair Quote

shotgunslade Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 For those of us who have swapped our automatics for manual transmissions in cars that were never offered with automatics. Two wit, my 1994 Subaru SVX has a 2004 Subaru WRX 5 speed, how many points would I be assessed. I count 5: Lightweight flywheel/clutch assembly 1 Ring pinion change (final drive ratio change) 2 Upgrade number of gears in transmission, or altered gear ratios 2 The SVX was originally equipped with a LSD and, in fact, I'm using the OEM rear differential. The difference is that the front differential on the WRX is 3.9 to 1 and the rear driveshaft is underdriven, so that the rear differential ratio on the WRX is the same as the SVX at 3.545 to 1 but with the transmission underdrive actually gives a 3.9 to 1 to match the front differential drive ratio. Did I guess right? Quote
