V8cobra99 Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 I am sorry for the delay to get this report out. I had deal with a few personal issues.... JWL will be doing the final draft, I just wanted to get this out tonight for you all to enjoy this weekend. --------- NASA Pro Racing – American Iron West Race Report – Round Seven Buttonwillow Raceway, November 10-11, 2006 By Andy Bowman Series Sponsors: ToyoTires, Maximum Motorsports, Steeda Autosports, Griggs Racing, J&M Products, Anze Engineering Breath-taking drama down to the last American Iron race weekend for 2006. The championship and all around points battles in both AI and AIX came down to the very last race of the season. Reflecting on the 2006 season, the excitement, stress and hard work left racers with a smile, yet very exhausted. What a year it has been with so much epic racing, new cars and new serious rookies and returning champions. American Iron is alive and well… with 16 cars and drivers appearing to challenge the long 3-mile Buttonwillow track. On top of all this, weather again played its ugly hand, with rain threatening the weekend and in fact poured down. And few were prepared. Challengers included; Gary Umphenour, Andy Bowman, Bryan MacMillan, Hal Massey, Ryan Walton, Christine Knight, Mike Armstrong, Vageli Karas, Dean Jones, and AI rookies Ken Leslie and Mike Fitzwater. AIX challengers included Corey Weber, Paul Brown, Ernesto Roco, Bill Daffron, Derek Thew, and Ryan Willson. Where to begin… with the weekend building up for a tight championship points race in the top five positions in both AI and AIX. Gary “The Iceman†Quote
