How was the Enduro?!!

Timmy I hear next time you need to take a leak you should only shake once and not twice as you came in second by 3 sec? Or was it you let someone pass you? Maybe the Spec guys should pitch in for a radio set so we can communicate with our cars running major events. What do you guys think? It sure would help in spotting, pits and where you are in placement.

Ultimately, not that tim needs his ego pumped any more, Tim came in second through lack of radio contact. He almost won it due to my (And Tom Spargo's) F1 style pit stop techniques. See, the team who won the class were next to us, they came over before the pit stops and informed me that they were in 1st and Tim was in second, he was on the same lap but a long way back. So, into the pits comes Tim, we discuss fuel consumption and Tim exhibits his mathematical prowes when he tells me, we've done half the race and used half a tank of gas, how much should we put in? Ahh, derr, anything we put in now is just a safety measure. Tim had planned on 15 gallons but that was way off when you went down to Enduro driving speeds and pacing. So we put in about 7 gallons for good measure as we knew this would be his only stop. The fueling was finished by the time Tim was back and still strapping into the car. Oh yeah, what did take you so long in the bathrooms? Were you stopped by an adoring fan? Anyway, back in he strapped and off he went. I would think at that stage he went done about 2, maybe 3 laps. Then the team in front (next to us) came in to pit. Well, they took a LONG time on fueling and driver change. I knew at that point Tim had made up more laps than he had lost, so at that point was probably 1 lap up? Here's where he lost due to lack of radio. Tim let the chopped, highly modded Mazda Miata past, not realizing they were racing. And towards the end he put the foot down a little more and started to catch them again. But, without radio had no idea that he just had to hunt them down and pass for the win as they were running out of gas. DOH! He could have won it, I have to admit. Had there been some communications. So either a pit board or radios next time should do the trick. Oh and me driving would help too!

Naw, it was for the E2 class, Dave. NASA enduros lump the cars into bigger classes. ESR, ES, E0, E1,E2, E3. See the rules. We were classed in E2 because of HP. E3 has VW's with 90 HP and such.

Well, hey!!!!!!!

I just went to mylaps.com and studied the enduro results.

Looks like Comeau Racing Enterprises came in 8th overall out of 29 teams. 2nd in class. 75 laps compared to the overall winner's 81 laps.

David Ray would have had to pay me $100.00 for my top 10 finish!

It was really interesting to follow the 2 lead cars in our class through the lap charts pages. They (Team Sampson, chopped top,Mazda Miata # 8 ) pitted twice and lost alot of positions on their second stop. We just kept chugging along, puttin' down the miles.

I only wanted to finish..................if only we had had radios................

Next time?

Tribute to Le Mans is coming up soon.......................

Tim did you get a final ruling on our cars doing the full 4 hours? Or can we only do the 1 hour? Any 944 able to run the full 4 hours will have my support!!! I'd like to do the 1 hour though.

Eric,

I remember reading the possibility of a 3 hour race? Would you do that? I would, give Timmy a 3 hour battle to contend with. DOH! Between us I think we can beat the empire known at Comeau Racing Enterprises.

What's the sound track to Titanic?

Last I herd "Tribute" will be 4 hours but I'm not sure our cars can run it. We may only be able to run the 1 hour. That's why I asked. I think Tim has made inquiries to the POC.
