ned911
I've been racing for the last 8 years with my vintage Porsche but having a Fox Mustang as a daily driver has peaked my interest in AI. Couple of questions: What is the best Mustang to run in the series? IRS Cobra, SN95 GT, Fox? What is the cost to setup a car for AI once the car is obtained? Thanks. racercosmo
Other than the cost of the car, a 79 will cost as much to build as a 99. Depending on what you do yourself, figure $10,000-15000 plus the car. Suspension and brakes $4-7000 Wheels and tires $1500 Cage $3000+ Engine $4000+ Getting passed on the banking at Fontana by an AIX car going 180MPH Priceless. Tires should last for half a season if you're running for the win, some people towards the back manage an entire season on one set. Foxbodies are the cheapest to obtain. A 94-98 has the best aerodynamics. IRS can be worked, but nobody has invested the time and money yet. The solid axle/TA setup is cheaper and easier, and out of the box it's faster. ned911
Thanks for the info. Sounds about the same costs as the old 911. Of course the real cost might be the divorce if a second racecar shows up in the garage. Ned
