Battery box rule question?

When it comes to the battery box, can it be made of aluminum? I made one that should work very well.

All the rules say is that it must be fully covered with a "marine" type case. I just want to get some clarification on that word!

Also, I have seen a specific H1 car that had the battery inside a plastic bax, but had no cover on it and no one said anything! Obviously it was secured, but I thought it needed a lid?

Thanks!!!

Any material is fine for the battery box. The marine type just means an enclosed unit. The box should indeed have a top on it as well.

Remember that aluminum conducts electricity. Be sure to protect your positive terminal should the battery get dislodged or the box crushed in an accident.

With a rubber or plastic box you don't have this problem.

Grumpy makes a very good point.

Per the CCR, you are required to have the terminal covered with a non conductive material.
