Rook
When building a motor for endurance, what is generally preferred? NA, blown, or turbo? It would seem that NA builds are more prevalent, but why? I would think that an overbuilt and underworked motor would be the best bet. I'd like to invite an open discussion here. I'm sure there'll be a fair bit of personal opinion involved. FlyingDog
For each part you add, you add one more failure point. Turbos and SCs add a lot of parts. I wouldn't consider an SC for any race car much less an enduro car. Turbos wouldn't be bad, but the heat/stress/reliability/efficiency/power issues have to be weighed carefully. Overbuilt and tuned to less power is always a good thing for an engine.... but usually not good for your wallet.
Rook
What don't you like about SCs?
FlyingDog
You waste a lot of power and create a lot of heat just running the thing. Relatively tame SCs on V8s can easily suck up 50-75hp just spinning the thing. Plus, plumbing an air/air intercooler is usually a bigger pain on an SC.
