V8cobra99 Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 What are the typical oil and water temps for race cars in AI?? Quote
mwilson7 Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 When they are running well probably 190-220 water and 240-260 oil. When they are about to blow up 230-250 water and 290-330 oil. Quote
swhiteh3 Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Yup, I'd say Mark's ranges are just about spot on. Even with a good synthetic oil, I'd tell most people (who can't afford to regularly blow up motors) to shut the motor down at 300* oil temp. Quote
Keith Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 When they are about to blow up 230-250 water and 290-330 oil. I've been running those oil temps with slightly lower water temps all season and the thing is still running... Quote
mwilson7 Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Then it's probably only a matter of time Keith....... Quote
Keith Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Yes, but the old girl helped me get both items that I wanted out of this season - seat time and a shot at #1 in rookie points. I am truly amazed that it lasted this long. I attribute it to very frequent fills of fresh Red Line. "You know, it would be alot cheaper to rebuild this engine if you don't scatter it first." - The guy who is going to rebuild my engine at Beaver Run on Saturday. Sunday, I took him for a shotgun ride and he understood why I was taking the chance... Quote
