Yup, I'd say Mark's ranges are just about spot on. Even with a good synthetic oil, I'd tell most people (who can't afford to regularly blow up motors) to shut the motor down at 300* oil temp.

When they are about to blow up 230-250 water and 290-330 oil.

 

I've been running those oil temps with slightly lower water temps all season and the thing is still running...

Yes, but the old girl helped me get both items that I wanted out of this season - seat time and a shot at #1 in rookie points. I am truly amazed that it lasted this long. I attribute it to very frequent fills of fresh Red Line.

 

"You know, it would be alot cheaper to rebuild this engine if you don't scatter it first." - The guy who is going to rebuild my engine at Beaver Run on Saturday. Sunday, I took him for a shotgun ride and he understood why I was taking the chance...
