295-17's or 18's on TTA Z06

Howdy,

Looking to setup a '03 Z06 for TTA.

So, which size tire/wheel is best.

295-17on stock 9.5 wheel all around or 295-18 on stock 10.5 wheel all around?

Tires are Hoosier A6

I assume the wider wheel might be best, but the 18 has a smaller sidewall, too.

Thanks,

John L.

Watch your points... You're at TTA+7 to start. So hoosiers, of any stripe, are +10. Don't spend them two more points in one place... Or rather, do, on headers. Heh. And hoosiers on stock suspension is going to burn through them really fast.

So the 17x11 GS wheels fit okay on the front?

Thanks,

John L.

Yes they do - I run my ZO6 at stock ride height and the FRC is lowered (has stiffer VBP front springs) with no scrub issues with 295s. I have rubbed fenders a little at Road & VIR with 315s on 17x11 GS wheels.

Thanks Varkswo,

I used to run the GS 17x11's on my SS Camaro.

Can't remember which offset? Is that the 36mm offset?

I like the wheels but aftermarket ones are pretty heavy. 26-28 lbs.

shlt - I knew someone was going to ask - I think the GS is 36mm and the ZR is 50 - the GS (whichever one it is!) works much better on a C5.

I have mostly OEM but also have a few knock offs - the knock offs are heavier but unless you are getting beat by .001 it really does not matter...but you can really tell tossing them into the bed of the truck.

In an ideal world I would have a set of CCWs in 17x11....
