mwilson7 Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 I'd like to have a place where we bring up AI rules than don't necessarily contradict the CCR rules but there isn't enough clarification to make a good call on what is correct. This could also be a place where AI rules contradict each other. An example of this would be that the AI rules allow unlimited rollcage mounting points but the CCR states that all mounting points must have a mounting plate. This means that if you tack weld the cage to any part of the body you need to have a mounting plate. It also says that the mounting plate size is unrestricted. Does that mean that you don't need a mounting plate because I chose the size to be 0 X 0? Quote
NASA Jim Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 I think most of those would be clarified by "5.1 ...Where the American Iron Series Rules and the NASA CCR’s differ, the American Iron Series Rules will supercede the NASA CCR..." If you tack the cage to the body, say the halo to the ceiling, obviously you can't squeeze a plate in there. You need a mounting plate where tubes terminate into the body, not where they pass by.
