Stang107 Posted January 12, 2010 Share Posted January 12, 2010 Can anyone point me to a source a get a remote type shifter that will work with a Pro 5.0 shifter on a T5 in my 1994 Mustang? Over the winter the engine has been set back 1" and the pedals and seat have been signifcantly moved back as well. Thanks.... edhunter Posted January 12, 2010 Share Posted January 12, 2010 Marty; I have one I may be interested in selling. It's made to put a T5 in a early model mustang, but I used in in my 88 track car. It def. shortens the shifting. It's made by restomod I think. Anyway I'm setting my engine back 1" this winter, but my seating/pedal position is stock - my main hoop won't let me move my seat back. It is a little pricey but is really worth it. At $189, it is priced a lot lower than the $300 that a fabricator (who has made them for AI/AIX cars in the past) was quoting me, but there were some differences in the design and construction for that additional $111 (double shear pivots vs single shear, etc.). I'm trying to work on that setup in my 2004 Mustang, while keeping the stock pedal assembly and Hydroboost. If it's not feasible to extend the Hydroboost linkage (it's starting to look that way), then I might just slap a Wilwood/Tilton/Coleman floor-mount pedal on the floorpan about 8" rearward of the stock brake pedal and connect the two with Heim-jointed linkage, while making my own gas pedal and maybe converting to a hydraulic clutch with an external slave cylinder. We didn't, if you look at the pic that was attached and scroll to the right you'll see the Tilton setup for manual brakes and hydraulic clutch that we used. 99cobra2881 Posted April 2, 2011 Share Posted April 2, 2011 Here's my stab at a remote shifter. The only problem I forsee is the upright on the tri-ax shifter is too tall in stock form. I'm thinking about trimming the top bolt hole/portion off the tri-ax. Then using the bottom two bolt holes to attach the shifter arm, Hopefully this will decrease shifter throw some. I cut the grooves in the handle to add grip. Even with gloves on the grooves really work. Turning down the shifter upright and cutting it to length. 99cobra2881 Posted April 22, 2011 Share Posted April 22, 2011 Shifter is done and in the car. Worked great at my SCCA double driver school last weekend!! Here is the final product. I just row the thing fore and aft to change gears, the springs in the tri-ax really help make upshifts easy. I cut the top hole of the tri-ax upright off and used the bottom two holes to attach the shifter. Doing this shortened up the shifter throws and made a big difference. My buddy got a '95 Mustang project we will be working on right after we finished installing the brake kit and moto metal rims on the current truck project. He's looking for remote shifter as well.
