Rick,

If you are running the stock DME you would handle the change through the DME Chip. Steve at 911chips.com does a lot of that programming. However, I would caution you to make a change unless you have done other work to your car. The week link in the 3.2 is the rod bolts and raising the rev limit works that section much harder.

Thanks for the reply, I'm not sure where i'm at on the DME chip etc. the car has a Motronic unit the Guy I bought the car from has moved out of state and I dont have a phone number. so i'm not sure how things are tweeked chip wise, my main concern is over rev. I have installed a shift light I have a tach that I can watch but I just wanted something a little more so I didnt push the red line to far. maybe I should just focus on my tach as my safety net but you know when your tied up in the moment you can lose your mind.

Thanks

Huh. I would crack open the DME and see what the chip says. In that motor there is not good power up top unless a lot of work has been done on the motor so there is no need to run higher. Not missing a shift is a different story and the rev limiter will not catch that fast enough to really help. I want o say a missed 3-4 ala 3-2 will push like 14k through the motor. So, my advice to protect your air cooled investment is take make sure you have a good shifter. The stock ones have the plastic bearings wear out and they are cheap and easy to fix. If you go aftermarket I would suggest Wevo. I had a Wevo and then a Hargett shifter in my 911 and the Wevo is much better. Great feel with very solid shifts.

Good luck!

I will take a look at the chip just to see what it says I think I'll keep everything as is at this point as everything is running fine and i do not want to screw anything up by modifying something. I do have a wevo shifter and it works well

again, thanks for the input
