PDenbigh
Hey NASA, At the end of last season, I bought what I thought were some decent used Hankook Ventus RSS tires for my HPDE car. The seller indicated that they weren't very old, but after buying them (had a friend pick them up) I discovered that they were from early 2005 :-/. Bummer. Without a durometer tester, what is the general philosophy on old tires? How old is too old for HPDE3/4? To the best of my knowledge, they've been stored inside. I paid $100 for four, but before I pay another $100 for mounting/balancing, I want to get opinions of if they are worth my time. Thanks a bunch, Peter
kbrew8991
Do they still look like they're in good shape... not dry rotted? If so, its HPDE... no trophies... use 'em
Aardwolf
Any little cracks between the tread?
PDenbigh
No cracks, no rot, just really really hard!
Aardwolf
If they were mine I would give them a try. Maybe test them on a back road so you aren't stuck with them and nothing else at a track event.
Trevor57
The harder the better. At that price it would be dumb not to use them.
