Tube Frame Car???

At this time the Regional Director makes the call. (with backup from the National Director I assume).

In general if the cars suspention is supported by tubing and/or the ABC pillars are not retained, you can assume it will be considered tube-frame. There are always reasonabl exceptions to this. EdBaus had a car that had a later model suspension fitted to it that needed some tubing to accept the subframe mounts. Not really a tube frame, just tube-enhanced really.

We're still discussing a definition of this. When in doubt, clear it before building/buying because right now it's like that judge defining pornography. "I can't tell you exactly what defines it, but I'll know it when I see it."

Thanks Chris for the update!

My car is no where close to being a "tube frame" car. I'm in the process of adding additional cage components (tubes) to support the car's front and rear subframes.

At a minimum, there should be a list created which defines if you do "this....this....or this, your car MAY be considered a tube frame car".

A quick and easy way to tell if you have a tube frame car is, if you take the tubing out again, will the car collapse. If yes, then yes it is a tube frame car.

If your car fits Mark's definition then you're in danger...

If you can't driver the car without the tubing you're in danger....

...but again (as in the Ed example above) it's not a hard rule.
