Bruce K
I am contemplating the purchase of a 1999 Goodys Dash car configured for road racing. This is a Scott Weaver tube-frame car, with unballasted weight of about 2400 lbs. The rear wheel power from the Toyota 3.4 liter V6 is reputed to be about 300. It is fitted with a T101A non-synchro trans (clutchless shifting). Would this car homologate into ST1? Would it be wiser to load on the ballast and run ST2? kbrew8991
ST1 or ST2 is close, try STR1 or 2.
TurboShortBus
I believe that tube-frame, purpose-built race cars default into STR, not ST, unless there is a specific exemption listed in the rules. Even in TT, they are only allowed in TTR (again, unless there is a specific exemption listed in the rules). Email Greg G. directly for an official answer. National Staff Greg G. Posted March 7, 2011 National Staff Share Posted March 7, 2011 That tube-frame car would be STR, not ST. Time Trial does permit legal STR2 cars to compete in TTU as a direct crossover. STR1 cars must compete in TTR (unlimited) in TT.
