National Staff Jeremy C. Posted May 29, 2011 National Staff Share Posted May 29, 2011 How can one repair cracks in the frame (unibody) within the rules? Can extra metal be welded on to prevent future cracks? Yes. You should drill holes at the end of the crack to help control future cracking, then weld up the whole crack, then plate over the crack and weld around the plate. As long as it's fairly obvious that it's a repair and not an "advantage", there won't be a problem in the future.
HC CRX 4 ME
Thanks for the quick reply. I purchased a used H4 CRX that has a repair like you described. Can I send pics of the repair to someone to make sure it is legal.
