raffaelli
Are we allowed to use non DOT Tires for HPDE events? Thanks! Chris
JoeLee
Chris - You sure can! Where else would you use them?
raffaelli
Good question! Thought there might be something about DOT/insurance for students. Glad to hear the good news! I will order away!
bmw22
Chris Why would you want to run non-DOT tires at an HPDE? Unless your car is a racecar with race suspension, you will be throwing money away. A DOT R compound tire will server you much better.
raffaelli
BMW22, I will be running the S03 Hoosiers, like I usually do. They are DOT approved. However, I can get a similar Hoosier tire that is not DOT approved for literally a song and a dance. So from that side, I would be saving money by running a non DOT tire. If you run an 18" rim, you might want to check them out. Drop me an email.
