lonepatrone
I have an opportunity to buy a set of Hankook C214 track tires that were only used for two 25 minute sessions for a very attractive price. The problem is they were manufactured the tenth week of 2005 and I don't know if they were properly heat cycled before/during their first use. Would you take risk on them or too old to track duty? Thanks for the info.
kbrew8991
as long as they were stored properly should be fine for HPDE use I would think...?
jason
As long as you can't see the cords, I'd run them.
bukit
I ran a set of 7 year-old Toyo RA1s this year with no problems. What compound are the tires? C51, C71, C91?
Trevor57
If there are not holes in them, they are fine for DE.
TreadZone
What size are they? I have a brand new set of 205/50R16 C70 that are good for cool weather, autocross or hillclimb. I'll take an offer on them. Joe TreadZone
vpnwiz
Pretty sure heat cycles are irrelevant if you're looking at a 6 year old tire. The Z214 'kooks are similar to RA1's where they seem to get better the older they are though. I've run them since 2008 and they are faster than Hoosiers. If the ones you are looking at aren't hard as a rock and you can get 'em for a good price, go for it. They will last forever doing DE's. Kubs
For DE they will be fine. While the car will not be its fastest with older tires, there are no records or competition in DE anyway.
Joshua
The result of using old C30 endurance compound Hankooks instead of RA1s: Seriously, they should be fine. But make certain they are not cracked, and inspect them throughout the day for delamination or other age-related failures.
