The car was then converted to Grand Am Cup (GAC) rules and campaigned in the 2002 and 2003 GAC series. The GAC series is an endurance series for "street-stock" cars. All vehicles retain stock bodywork and a relatively "stock" chassis and drivetrain. Races are between 3- and 6-hours with pit stops and driver changes. The Camaro competed against Porsche GT3, BMW M3, Nissan 350Z, Audi S4, Ford Mustang Cobra, Pontiac Firebird, Acura NSX and similar cars. Built for endurance, the car is very durable and very low maintenance. The car starts and runs and drives smoothly, like a road car. Clutch and shifting action are very smooth, gear changes are quick and easy. Steering feel is light thanks to the power steering and the car gives good feedback. Drivers regularly did double stints in the car (2 hours) without excessive fatigue. Braking effort is light and pedal feel is good. Tire life is excellent using the Hoosier spec GAC tire, typical tire life is 15 min qualifying + 1 to 2 hours in race + 1 to 2 hours of testing per set. Brake Pads and rotors will typically last for 6 hours of track time (1.5 to 2 GAC weekends) Cryo-treating the rotors ($90/set) doubles the rotor life and improves pedal feel. In 8 GAC races, the car qualified 3rd on the grid twice (out of 20+ cars) at Virginia International and Daytona (both 2004) Best finish was a 5th place (Daytona 2003 6-hour) after running 2nd in the 5th hour. Top speed at Daytona was 168 MPH. The car was built for GAC by Precision Motor Werks of Marblehead MA, USA, where all engine and chassis work was performed. The car has had two light crashes, and was repaired to like-new condition by Precision Motor Werks. There is little evidence of repairs. The car does not have a DMV title. pederb
I did not read the whole ad but is the firewall intact or moved like most WC cars?
racercosmo
It ran Grand-Am Cup, so it's probably intact. I don't know where the firewall being moved in World Challenge cars came from. I have seen few cars with the firewall modified.
