GraemeD
Any idea where the 818 will fit into time trial? http://www.factoryfive.com/kits/project-818/
kbrew8991
TTR TTU if it follows STR-2 rules & hp/weight (8.70lb/hp adjusted being the main big one)
GraemeD
Thanks, Just thinking ahead. Neet looking car and concept.
Fair
Probably not a great TT car, if you ever crashed. The roll hoop structure is below the driver's head and the front and side crash structures seem cosmetic, at best. Suspension geometry also looks frightening. YRMV Good discussion of this for track use, with dozens of "naked" pictures of a pre-production chassis, located here. It might change after the SEMA show. I'm hoping it does. Grintch
Rumor is that there will be a street & track version. With the track version including an integral cage. Your comments on the roll structure would also apply to a stock Miata.
kbrew8991
Your comments on the roll structure would also apply to a stock Miata. which is required to add a real roll bar before hitting the track
Grintch
Right, so neither a street Miata nor a street 818 would be track legal. But yes, I get the point now (my work computer blocked the pictures). Just a few slight adjustments, and the standard "roll bar" could have been made legal for HPDE & TT. And fixing it will actually be harder on the 818 than adding a bar to a Miata (unless you consider that they could fix it by just ordering the Track version).
