kstpeter Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I'm currently rebuilding a '95 Eagle Talon TSi, and was reading through the TT classifications and was wondering...based on what I read, a stock Talon would be TTE +7 initial points. But I also saw that forced induction vehicles also get an additional +5 points. My question is, does that mean I would start off with +12 right off the bat without any mods, or does the +5 for forced induction refer to vehicles that didn't come with a turbo from the factory? The car probably won't be ready until next season, but at least I've got something to keep me busy over the winter months. I've done auto-x in the past, but am looking to participate in the HPDE events and eventually TT and PT. I'm looking to put the car back to almost stock, but upgrade the suspension/wheels to start with. A little back story on the Talon...I owned a '98 TSi that I raced in auto-x. I ended up selling it a few years ago, it went through a few different owners and got neglected/rotted out. By chance I happened to find it posted on craigslist as a parts car with a practically rust free '95 shell...so I bought it back. Pics of said Talon- Rust-free shell to start the project My old TSi that got neglected by its new owners after me. Was able to save some parts off of it to put in the new shell though. (Transmission, driveshaft, transfer case, suspension, doors, hood) In it's glory day's while I owned it Let the fun begin... Quote

The +5 for all boosted vehicles came about at the same time that the points were dropped for reflashing the BTM ECU (it was +5 for NA and +10 for boosted at the time). We couldn't easily or inexpensively confirm or deny if any given car had reflashed the BTM ECU, so we eliminated it. The resultant +5 for all boosted cars is the points difference from the old rule (and boosted cars stand to gain more power from an ECU reflash than NA cars do). This +5 goes away with a dyno reclass, though. Mark Quote
