ELO168
Another problem Car was not original SI model. How do I find out what kind of brake caliper rotor, pads it have? Sorry for the noob questions
ILIKETODRIVE
Front and/or rear? Measure the front rotor diameter. Roughly 9.5" = most 88-00 Civics, 10.3" = most Integras, 11" = ITR. Rear are all nearly the same for pads.
ELO168
Hi Simon Ok, my guy already took the brake apart and confirm they are not SI I want to swap everything to SI, would the hanger be the same or need to get different ones. Also where is a good place to get rebuilt calipers? BTW Is for the front. Thanks
ILIKETODRIVE
HF and DX and Si are basically the same size brakes in the front. All the part numbers for the pads/rotors from Honda are different but that is because the brake caliper bracket is different between all of them (according to H-T people). Therefore you do need to know which brakes they are but only for when you order pads. I myself do not know exactly what the difference is... 90-91 Civic EX have larger Integra sized brakes. ELO168
So would Si calipers bolt onto the DX model?
ILIKETODRIVE
So would Si calipers bolt onto the DX model? From what I remember of my '91 hatchback yes BUT they're basically the same.
ELO168
Heard that the 90-91 SI have bigger piston
ILIKETODRIVE
Probably but the pads and rotor are the same size.
H4CRXSi
Heard that the 90-91 SI have bigger piston Yes, this is correct, and the '90-'91 also used a different pad shape than the '88-'89 CRX Si. Also, if you haven't already, upgrade to the '90-'91 CRX Si master cylinder, which is a 7/8" bore, as compared to the '88-'91 which is a 13/16" bore. As far as other components, you really can't go wrong with the Cobalt XR series of brake pads, and I use the XR2 front and XR5 rear on my H4 CRX Si. I switched from Brembo rotors to Mehle rotors middle of last season and am really pleased with their performance and durability. Let me know if you are interested in a set of Cobalt pads as I'm a dealer for them and can get you a better price than what their website or HPD offers. ELO168
Hi Sam Yes the master cyclinder is upgrade. My mechanic order a set of porterfield R already. What do you think of them compare to Cobalt? Pm me the cosr for the front ones. Thanks Edmond
ELO168
Anyone know where to get brake duct kit for crx?
National Staff Jeremy C. Posted June 18, 2013 National Staff Share Posted June 18, 2013 You have to make your own. I know of no one that offers a kit worth investing in.
