100% street legal. This particular vehicle has been hand assembled, impeccable attention to detailing, assembly, fabrication, and engineering, as well as professional chassis, engine, bodywork, and painting. This attention to detail is what makes this car one of the nicest in the country. This unique automobile was custom built in 1998 by Tom Jenkins at D&D Corvette Company (this was their demo). The 1963 fiberglass body resides over a custom 4" tube chassis, with additional C-4 Corvette upgrades, although resembling exactly the legendary Chevrolet Motor division sanctioned 1963 Corvette Grand Sport coupe, raced from 1963-1967, this remarkable clone has received today's engineering and fabrication implementations to succeed the handling capacities of the originals. Only 5 originals were ever built by Chevrolet, 2 being roadsters, and three being coupes. Designed originally for Trans Am style racing, this street legal version is currently nurtured by it's second owner. A 1970 GM 400CI 4 bolt main block was remachined, destroked, and fabricated into the current balanced and blueprinted 377CI V8 motor, with such features as a MSD ignition system, Lunati roller cam, Harlan Sharp rockers, Carrie rods, Weisco pistons, and Aluminum Edelbrock "angle plug" heads. Additionally, a canton road race oil pan, and an accusump 2 quart pre-oiling system are also installed. A Tremec TKO (3.27 first gear) 5spd manual transmission, Dana 44 (IRS) with 3:373 gears, 20 gallon aluminum fuel cell round out the drivetrain. Power steering by Appleton, steering column by I-Did-it, Borgeson U-joints. Even air conditioning using a combination of vette compressor and vintage air space saver #134. Aluminum radiator, twin 96 vette electric fans (two manual switches located on dash), custom aluminum shroud and duct work. The chassis and roll cage were powder coated yellow at the time of the build for added durability. The exterior body panels are identical to the 1963 Stingray, are a 1998 as are all of the D&D Corvette fiberglass replicas. The entire deluxe coupe kit is steel reinforced fiberglass, including (but not limited to) the body itself, doors, deck lid, dash assembly, glove box, Daytona Style hood, and door panels. The hood louvers, grille, window tracks, and fender louvers are stainless steel. Polycarbonate headlight covers, cowl vents, deck lid "cooler scoops", window glass and trim are all in excellent condition. The exterior was painted in 1998 and is in great condition with the exception of minor nicks from driving the car on the street. The interior leather wrapped seats, Autometer gauges, wiring harness, and roll cage are all in excellent condition. The vehicle passed a NSRA 23 point safety inspection and it's overall subjective appearance is "Excellent, close to true show status", and is an excellent example of yesterdays legendary racing heritage and today's superior high performance components. This particular rare vehicle is one of a very few kits built of it's kind and stature, it really is in an unclassifiable league of it's own. Combining muscle car, kit car, race car, and custom hand built features jointly. Weight (wet): 2,800lbs, suspension consists of C4 vette front and rear, Alden adjustable coil over shocks, HD C4 vette sway bars. All components have been plastic bead blasted and PPG clear coated for added durability. brakes are ZR1 on the front and stock C4 on the rear, power brake booster and ZR1 master cylinder. Line loc, and functional front and rear brake ducts. Street tires consist of Eagle GS-C P 275/40/ZR17's on the front and P315/45ZR17's on the rear.. For added safety, a 10lb Coldfire fire suppression system has been installed. It would cost you over $85,000 to duplicate this car today not including the spares.
