dsc off Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) I'm finally ready to make the jump and put in a 4 point welded roll bar and 6 point harnesses. The car already has racing seats and have been using the factory 3 point seat belts. My question is, how have other Z4/E46 owners installed both a harness and maintained the factory seat belt? Clearance is so tight on the inboard side with the factory receptacle, I just can't see how you could install an eye bolt in that same area. I'm now wondering if I should just sacrifice the factory belts and clip into the harnesses every time I get in the car. The car is NOT my daily but I still drive to/from the track, some of which are up to 6-8 hours away. This does not seem ideal so I'm hoping someone can give examples of how their install went. aaronsti Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 you could have the fabricator of the cage weld in an eye bolt in a proper location with backing and retain factory belts. Quote
getfast Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I went through a similar dilemma recently when I put a bar, seat, and harness in my E36 which is still street driven to and from events. In case you don't have this handled yet, the easy button may come from a NASA NE partner: http://store.vacmotorsports.com/vac---factory-seat-belt-adapter-kit-p2072.aspx Quote
