imissedtheapex
Anyone have an opinion on replacing an ailing caliper using a reman brake caliper vs replacing it with a new one? This is on an HDPE car. I've heard remans are just as good as OEM new but I just don't feel nearly as confident. Thoughts?
getfast
an HDPE car A plastic car? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-density_polyethylene Depends on the reman, plenty are fine but some can be junk. I'd try to find folks who run the same car and see what they think. Example: if it's an E36/E46 I can tell you from experience that the red box remans from Worldpac don't last as long as new stuff... but that the remans from Advance or NAPA seem to be fine. Or ask a brake pro who sells reman calipers such as NASA GTS racer Eric Wong ( http://brakeswap.com/ ) Or rebuild 'em yourself! Hope it helps
brkntrxn
I used remans on the rear from Advance Auto on our 2000 Miata DE car with no issues. This was with our two daughters through six Des and now with two different buddies DE'ing and TT'ing the same car.

This is what happens when I write emails after a couple of beers. So yes, mine is a 92 e36 and Rockauto sells reman Raybestos, Centric, A1 and Wagners and I have no idea what is good and what isn't. Something about a caliper falling apart coming off a straight makes me nervous hahah. Any experience with any of these?
