Suggested new method of calculating power to weight

The concern about swaps is based on a number of factors. Torque advantages along with rpm advantage. With higher torque is naturally results in higher avg whp which is fundamentally what GTS is about. Power to weight. I have attempted to game it myself and was unable to. Unlike the calculator which is very easy to game. Please live this thread to constructive feedback and save the moaning for another one.

Proposal:

GTS2 (Same rules may work for GTS1)

-Cars with a declared rev limit over 7000 rpm must add 5 lbs of ballast per 100rpm

(ex. An S54 using a 8000 rev limit must add 50lbs to min weight)

-Any car with peak wtq exceeding peak whp must average the 2

(ex. 215whp/215wtq car= 3,117.5 min weight..... 215whp/230wtq=222.5 avg x 14.5.= 3,226.25 min weight)

GTS3

-To determine min weight for each car calculate 11 x peak whp and 11.65 x peak wtq. Minimum weight is the greatest of the 2

(ex 280whp/280wtq car =3,262 min weight... 280whp/240wtq car= 3,080 min weight. 280whp/270wtq= 3,145 min weight)

-Any non-turbo GTS3 car that has a rev limit below 7200 rpm can reduce the torque min weight by 100 lbs per 100 rpm below that. The min race weight can not be below peak whp x 11.

(ex S62 with 300/300= 3300 or 3495 min weight. This now becomes 3300 or 3295 with a 7000 redline. So min weight is 3300)

-Any turbo GTS3 car with a rev limit below 7000 rpm can reduce the torque min weight by 15lbs per 100 rpm. Race weight can not be below peak whpx11

(ex. N54 with 280whp/280wtq= 3262 lbs. If it has a 6500 rev limit you can reduce min weight by 75 lbs)

Proposal 2 (To help slow down the winners) I have vetted this with a number of GTS guys and pretty unanimous agreement oddly enough. Everyone just wants to have fun racing so helping the slow guys be more competitive helps us all

-Weight penalty for P1 and P2 that carries over each weekend. Nationals is not included. If there are less than 5 racers in a weekend the additional penalty from that weekend does not carry to the next weekend. Penalty drops once that driver finishes P3 or lower.

- GTS1-2 (150lb max penalty)

P1 Add 50lbs

P2 Add 25lbs

P3+ No weight penalty

-GTS3-4 (200lb max penalty)

P1 Add 50lbs

P2 Add 25lbs

P3+ No weight penalty

- Once a racer finishes P4 or lower their weight penalty is dropped.

Agree with the spirit of this and would be fine with Proposal 2 also.
