hachiroku Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 My race car is up for sale. Please let me know if you or someone you know maybe interested. Car has a stock engine with fresh oil change and passes smog with ease. Just paid registration. Car has a total of 880 miles on the clock. In regards to the engine it sounds like one of the 4 lifters is stuck but would need removal to determine. Or could be high pressure fuel pump if this engine has one. I'm not super versed on this engine. The turbo models make this noise and GM states for the direct injection engines this is normal. Camshafts and valvetrain look great otherwise on inspection. No visual or physical lifter failure, but did not fully remove them. Did apply pressure to all lifters and they are firm with oil. Car was sitting with dead battery for 10 months before recent start up when this noise appeared. Also, car is not lacking in power, seems to have the same butt dyno feeling as prior to the noise. Car literally sat for 13 years in a garage. Paint is in excellent condition besides a few scuffs and 1 or 2 dings at the race track. Car was only brought to a track day 1 time and Auto-X 3 times. I purchased the car from a good friend who purchased from our friend who built the car for SEMA. Here is that original for sale ad. https://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f30/custom-gripunit-fatlace-solstice-sale-39902/ FYI: Any GM LS motor will bolt into this chassis with proper engine and transmission mounts from the GM dealer.
