Cost Effective Brake Cooling

Ducted brake cooling was an afternoon's work per side and is made up of the following components purchased from 360 Motorsports in Houston. The specialize in dirt roundy rounds but carry a good range of general race parts and are a very helpful bunch.

Allstar Performance 3" brake duct hose- $52.99 for a 10' length

NACA offset single hole brake duct- $18.99 each

Allstar Performance spindle duct- $32.99 each

NACA ducts can be heated with a heat gun and molded to suit the body profile.

Spindle duct requires some minor mods to fit down alongside the brake rotor. It is mounted with 1/4" cap screws.

Dirt track guys recommend the hose is clamped then riveted in place either end.

Hope this helps someone. Let me know if anyone needs pics, I'm apparently not clever enough to post them.

The biggest enemy to those ducts is friction and wearing through, not heat. Take care how they're routed and support properly with zip ties. I've never had mine come off the spindle side using only hose clamps.

It's important to aim the air at the center of the rotor, not the actual surface. The vanes will draw air from the center and shoot it out the perimeter.
