I was at Nationals at Mid Ohio in either 06 or 07 watching the CMC / Factory Five qualifying when Karen Salvaggio had her steering wheel come off going through the kink in her factory five car and went off left and smashed into the wall. Glenn Posted September 16, 2014 Share Posted September 16, 2014 I don't take mine off for this very reason. I leave it on at all times unless the task I'm doing requires it to come off. I don't need to remove mine to get in and out (6'2" @ 250lbs) and I don't need to remove it to impress my friends and neighbors. Leave it on and check it often.
