MacOne Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Hello racers, hopefully someone can help me here. i recently acquired a vehicle that is caged. the cage structure looks great but i have a question about its mounting points to the chassis. the rules states that every mounting point must have a 9 sq" plate with a min. thickness of 0.08". the vehicle i got does not have a plate but it is welded straight to the chassis of the vehicle. is this allowed or should i plan to add the plates? vehicle is a 2000 c5 FRC. thanks in advance. National Staff Brett B. Posted January 16, 2020 National Staff Posted January 16, 2020 A 9 in² plate is only 3" by 3", but I just heard back from the SoCal tech chief: If the cage is welded directly to a metal frame then that is fine. Quote
