National Staff Greg G. Posted February 15, 2006 National Staff Share Posted February 15, 2006 We have closed up what I believe is the last "big" loophole in the rules. Please check the actual wording in this thread where all rules addendums and clarifications are at: http://www.nasaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=7534 Basically, we are deleting the +18 turbo/supercharger addition assessment because it is not enough points for most of the lower horsepower, lightweight, low base classed cars. There is too much disparity between a 100 hp TTG base classed car that get's an extra 100 hp from a turbo, and a 350 hp TTB car that adds 100 hp. While the TTB car may only need to move to TTA to be fairly classed, the TTG car needs to move up multiple classes that the +18 assessment doesn't provide. These cars will now finish all engine mods, and get dyno tested, then state their minimum competition weight. They will then be given a base class, and cannot do further engine or weight reduction mods without being re-evaluated for re-classification. They will be subject to Dyno testing to confirm that they have not done any subsequent power enhancing modifications. They will still be assessed for all other aspects other than engine and weight reduction. Also, these cars cannot have any driver accessible methods of adjusting power levels while on the track. So, if you were planning on building a 250hp turbocharged car that weighs 2300 pounds to run in TTD or TTC, forget it.
