Posted October 17, 2022 National Staff Share Posted October 17, 2022 Technical Bulletin 10-16-22 Goodyear DOT Radial RCMD tires - ST4/5/6 The provisional classing of the Goodyear DOT Radial RCMD tires as "DOT approved R-compound Autocross tires" for ST4/TT4, ST5/TT5, ST6/TT6 is being deleted, and these tires are now eligible to be used in ST4/TT4, ST5/TT5, ST6/TT6 as 0.0 Mod Factor tires. Technical Bulletin 6-10-21 Goodyear DOT Radial RCMD tires The Goodyear DOT Radial RCMD tires will be Provisionally classified as "DOT approved R-compound Autocross tires" for ST4/TT4, ST5/TT5, ST6/TT6. NASA will be doing our own testing of these tires in the future to determine if this is the appropriate classing/grouping. So, until further testing and further notice, these tires are not permitted in ST5/TT5 and ST6/TT6, and are permitted in ST4/TT4 using the Modification Factor for DOT approved R-compound Autocross tires. ST1-4 Rules 6.4 ST4 Specific Restrictions and Limitations 6.4.1 ST4 Tire Limitations 1) Compound Non-DOT approved tires are not permitted in ST4. DOT-approved R-compound autocross tires shall be assessed via the “Adjusted Weight/Power Ratio” in ST4. Hoosier DOT Wet tires and Goodyear Eagle RS DOT Radial WCMD tires shall be assessed as autocross tires except during an officially designated “Rain Session” when they may be used without a Modification Factor assessment. Pending future testing, the Goodyear Eagle RS DOT Radial RCMD tire is classified and assessed as an autocross tire. ST5-6 Rules 6.1.2 Tire Limitations i) Compound 1) Tire treatments and softeners are not permitted. 2) Non-DOT approved tires are not permitted in ST5 and ST6. 3) DOT-approved R-compound autocross tires (“A-tires”) are not permitted in ST5 and ST6. (examples: A6, A7, DOT Wet, R1S, RS AC, Z214-C90/91) Pending future testing, the Goodyear Eagle RS DOT Radial RCMD and WCMD tire is classified under this rule, and is not permitted. 4) Hoosier DOT Wet tires and Goodyear Eagle RS DOT Radial WCMD shall be permitted ONLY during an officially designated “Rain Session”.
