TheWho
Tim, Jeff or Pete (because I know you have experience at CSW): Can you describe the basic technical differences between Willow and CSW? It would be very helpful for those new to the series and CSW if you could talk us around the track similar to that on the WSR website or posted by Jack on the SDR site (albeit for a taildragger)
NASA Jim
CSW = California Speedway? If so, IMHO the tracks are quite different. Willow has more of a flowing nature and a lot of elevation change. Cal Speedway is quite different because the track really has two characters because you're driving on the flat infield and then 2/3 around the oval. The infield is pretty quick to learn except for a slightly off-camber downhill right-hand hairpin. It is similar to the hairpin at Buttonwillow if you are running CCW, except that it is a right and not a left. The biggest mistake people make there is that they apex too early. That turn is a super late apex to get a good run on that little straight. The oval is pretty easy to drive- low HP cars might as well stay low to decrease the length. The turn right before coming on to the oval was a topic of much discussion last time out and may be different this year. As I recall there was a car that was damaged there last year.
