Deude_Mann Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 The 2024 rules contain the following regarding windows on unlimited cars... "CCR 15.10—Front driver and passenger side fixed/Lexan windows are permitted if they are: 1) factory installed during the manufacturing of the vehicle, or 2) if they are made of non-shattering material (Lexan), can be removed from both the inside and outside of the vehicle with no tools required, and allow the driver to comply with the driver emergency exit time requirements in the CCR." So for a factory based car (not a prototype car) can the window be affixed in a non-removable (tools required) manner to a door (since the door opens)? If not, and the window has to be removable from the door without tools, does anyone have an example of what is an acceptable implementation of a removable window? Thanks Quote
National Staff Greg G. Posted April 18, 2024 National Staff Posted April 18, 2024 If they are not Lexan windows installed by the factory, they must follow the second rule you posted for safety reasons. Quote
Deude_Mann Posted April 19, 2024 Author Posted April 19, 2024 Does the window need to be removable with the door in the fully closed position? Quote
National Staff Greg G. Posted April 25, 2024 National Staff Posted April 25, 2024 Yes, it needs to be removable when the door is closed. The idea is that if there is a crash, then the safety workers or the driver can open the window if the door is jammed closed. Quote
