How about an all-day Comp School?

Entropy Racing, under sanction by NASA NE Region, will be hosting a comprehensive licensing school on Thursday, October 5 at Pocono Raceway. The Competition School will consist of more than 3 hours of track time, and a similar amount of classroom time.

We will be working specifically on the following items while generally introducing as many different aspects of competition racing as possible

1) Passing and off line techniques. There is a good deal of track time dedicated to driving off line and in passing situations, with the goal to help you learn how to be off line while continuing to drive safely and quickly in passing and traffic situations that you will encounter in a wheel-to-wheel environment.

2)Starts (both standing starts and rolling starts, as well as restarts). We will have an entire session dedicated to starts. Some with pace car, some without. Some rolling and some standing. We will also have simulated racing during this session and later in the day, where we will do more starts. In all we anticipate around 20 starts over the course of the day. This is 2 seasons worth of starts in just one day.

3) Race craft. One of the things that I am very proud of in our school is the fact that we are not teaching you how to drive... we are teaching you how to RACE. We will discuss preparation of your car, driver prep for a race, and much of the important stuff that makes a good racer good, and gives the novice the tools to become a good racer.

4)Safety A good racing program depends on good safety and we will discuss all aspects of driver safety from the equipment you wear and drive, to the way you use it.

With the help of Joe Lee, Former NASA NE director, we will be able to issue NASA Logbooks for your car, as well as EMRA Logbooks.

We will be assisting you in submitting all appropriate paperwork to go racing with NASA and EMRA (and may even be able to issue NASA novice Log Books, and EMRA Novice Licenses on the spot)

For Licensed drivers who would like to participate in the school contact me directly at the Phone # at the bottom of the page. We have discount pricing for anyone already licensed who would like to sharpen their skills or practice their starts. The discount is due to the fact that we do not have to deal with Paperwork, Limited tech and the fact that you will be teamed with our instructors to help the novices.

* Things you need to join the Comp School.

1. Previous track experience. All participants in the comp school are required to have no less than 6 days on track prior to this event. We are not running a driving school and all participants are expected to know how to find a line and drive at speed. This school is about learning to race.

2. Race prepared car with all appropriate safety equipment in good working order and properly installed as per NASA safety Regulations outlined in the CCR found at nasaproracing.com

2.5 Race Car Rentals. Entropy Racing has a number of race cars available for rent for this event. The fee is $850 for the day. Call us for further details.

3. Current Race Physical completed by your doctor. Downloadable from NASA's web site under FORMS.

4. Current SFI rated helmet with a 1995 SA or newer SA rated helmet. At least 2 layers of Nomex or equivalent rated suit, fire resistant gloves, socks, shoes and balaclava(for people with facial hair)

5. The Fee for the School is currently $1000 per student (no car sharing is allowed) but will be reduced to as little as $750 if we have 15 school participants or more.

Did you work w/ the NASA-MA region on this? We've had an all day comp school for a few years now. I went though it in Feb (the same one featured in Grassroots Motorsports mag eariler this year), very good school and like you said, tons of track time.

It will be similar to the February VIR school - except even more sessions. We will only have one other run group on track that day. We also plan on having at least a season's worth of starts! That alone makes it worth the entry fee in my opinion.
