DaWorstPlaya
Under the new rules certain things have changed and there seems to be a more detailed classification for coilovers of varying performance, which I thinks is a great idea. What do the KW Variant 3s fall under? Under the old rule they were 7 point coilovers but under the new rules they are 12 (10 for shocks + 2 for spring) points, correct? This is because they are 2 way adjustable and have a remote reservoir and the reservoir throws them into the 10 point shocks, correct? Also under the new rules, the Ohlins Road and Track or Street/Sport monotube single adjustable coilovers and the Bilstein PSS-9 monotube single adjustable coilovers are now 5 points, correct? Since both are priced below $3000 .... $2500 for the Ohlins and $1600 for the Bilstein. Under the old rules they would be 12 point coilovers because they were monotube, which didn't make much sense. Johannes
In this same line of questioning: the new Ohlin's DFV coilovers. They are rebound adjustable only and under 3K for struts and springs (or just over 3K at some stores when adjustable camber plates and pillow ball upper shock mounts are included) . Thanks. Johannes
One more question. Are "piggyback" reserviors (KW variant 3s and Ohlin Flag series-both 2-way adjustable) automatically in the 10 point category with full on remote reservior coilovers like motons, etc.? Thanks for any help.
National Staff Greg G. Posted December 15, 2006 National Staff Share Posted December 15, 2006 I'm working on a solution. I don't think they should be, but the current wording would make them +10's. Stay tuned.
Valhakar
If the product pool is small enough, you can list them by brand and model number with specific point list. The up side, companies would be wise to send you their new models wanting that exclusion for "testing and evaluation".
Johannes
I'm good. I decided to stick with non-piggyback sub 3K 5pt coilover set-up. My 2 litlle girls will have a Christmas after all!
