National Staff Greg G. Posted November 24, 2009 National Staff Share Posted November 24, 2009 R6's stay at +10 points. A6's and C91 and C90 Z214 Hankooks move to +13 points. RA-1s move to +7 points (no more +5 category).
kbrew8991
and I assume this will also go for PT as well?

patinum
The only reason why I'm sad to see the +5 tires go away is that those of us blessed with two *'s and want to stay in our base class can only run the sticky stuff if we downsize by at least 20mm. AZELISE
Thanks for posting the info on tire points. It is a big help.
JamesL
I have to admit, this point change seems fair... although now it looks like the C71 Hankooks and V710s become the fastest +10pt tires.

Are these's tire's any faster than the R6's Robert
Trevor57
Haven't driven on the hankooks, but the 710's are not faster in my experience.

Mrsideways
Very Interesting. I still think on certain cars (FWD) A6's will be the ticket even with the 3 points. But the neat factor here is that on certain other cars a VERY wide AD08 or similar street tire might be the ticket too...... (ahem, porsche,) But you'd need a considerable HP advantage from the free'd up points.
National Staff Greg G. Posted November 25, 2009 National Staff Share Posted November 25, 2009 Do any new tire adjustments apply to ST and TTS/U/R? National Staff Greg G. Posted November 25, 2009 National Staff Share Posted November 25, 2009 Pre-Thanksgiving Giveaway (NOT OFFICIALLY APPROVED YET--but 99.9% chance): 1) Non-OEM shocks/struts/dampers with an external reservoir or more than two ranges of adjustment—must still take points for springs below +10 (example: compression (bump) and both high & low rebound adjustments). 2) Non-OEM shocks/struts/dampers with a “Piggyback” external reservoir or with shaft diameter 40mm or greater —must still take additional points for the springs below +7 3) Non-OEM or modified/re-valved shocks/struts/dampers +3 (all others)(springs not included) Get your list to Santa now! Are springs still +2 though? If so, looks like everythings the same minus the $ figures. From the 2009 ruleset: Non-OEM or modified coil springs, leaf springs/spacers/brackets, or torsion bars +

Very interesting. Thanks for posting this. Question: Do "inverted" Mcstruts take +7 now, regardless of their # of adjustments, etc (as the "shaft" will generally be larger than 40mm)? And if so, do they still have to take a +1 for being "inverted from OEM design"?
kbrew8991
from the PT section I notice no mention of the Kumho V710 - +10 or +13? The V710 will remain a +10 tire.

I haven't looked at the weights and all but I think the CR should probly be a * rather than a ** still with a 225 Hoosier and a free remap from that new hondata thing you should be hauling ass.
